IMG_8394_webFurthering its capacity to provide comprehensive, people-centered care to the South Jersey community, Shore Physicians Group is pleased to announce that rheumatologist Dr. Ana Cilursu will be joining its Somers Point and Marmora practices.  Along with Dr. Linda Brecher, Dr. Cilursu will treat people struggling with rheumatic diseases like arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus and other diseases that affect the joints, muscles and bones.  She will begin seeing patients April 7.

Board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Cilursu has been treating patients in our region since 1992 and returns to practice after a hiatus.  She was named Top Doc in New Jersey in 2010 and 2005 and received the Teacher of the Year award five times throughout her tenure as a teaching attending physician of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Cilursu has presented locally and nationally on multiple topics, including lupus, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis, and has been published 10 times in various medical journals.

Mark Stephens, Chief Executive Officer of Shore Physicians Group, says Dr. Cilursu’s return to practice is good news to both her previous patients and new patients alike.  “With such an impressive background and history of providing compassionate, quality care to South Jersey residents struggling with the effects of rheumatic diseases, Dr. Cilursu is a welcome addition to the SPG team.  There is a great need for rheumatologists in our community, and Dr. Cilursu will help to fill that need.”

Dr. Cilursu received her Medical Degree from Federal University of Rio de Janiero in Brazil and completed her residency at Atlantic City Medical Center.  She completed fellowships in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  She has taught at St. George’s University School of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and was a member of the teaching faculty at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Dr. Cilursu will see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 401 Bethel Road in Somers Point and on Wednesdays at 4 Roosevelt Blvd. in Marmora in the Shoprite Shopping Center.  Patients can now begin scheduling appointments with Dr. Cilursu by calling the SPG Somers Point office at 609-365-6200.
